Group Decision 1: What do we hope to achieve?
You must make the most important decision of the entire competition now! Instructions You need to get together as a team and decide on the overall theme/name and type of festival you want to organise. You need to make three main decisions. A. Who is your target customer? You should choose the type of person your festival is aimed at. Who are you trying to get to pay to come to your festival? You need to consider the type of experience you want your customer to have. How much money do these people earn? Can they afford tickets, travel etc? B. Does your festival have a theme? Are you going to aim your festival at a certain group of people and stick to a set theme? E.g., Rock festival, Gothic Festival, Indie Festival, Dance Festival etc. Are you going to have different types of music and a separate theme such as a green festival or a family festival? What festivals already take place? Which ones are really successful? Why are they successful? c. What is your Festival going to be called? You need to pick a festival name that will match your theme as well as being catchy and eye catching. |
What type of Festival will you be organising?
Describe your target customer. Why have you chosen this group? What is the theme of your Festival? Why did you choose this theme? What is the name of your Festival? |

Did you book your dates with the booking agent? (You need to check when the booking desk is open) Are there any other Festivals on at the same time as yours? (The booking agent will be able to tell you if there are any clashes of Festivals.) Did you have to change your dates? If so why? |
Venue - Where will your Festival be held?
B. Picking a suitable Venue.
You need to choose a suitable location for your festival. When choosing a venue, you must consider factors such as the capacity of the site. These factors will determine how many people will come to the festival and the amount of profit to be made.
Other factors which may be important are sound levels and the proximity of residents to the site. Local resident complaints can often cause bad publicity for festivals.
